Tales of Tales: The beginning of a story

" Ser Richard, I heard that you are a man full of story, can I hear some from you?" a little girl sat on the ground next to an old man.

The old man smiled at the girl and said, " truly I am. And Bela, don't call me Ser Richard. I am your father since the moment I received you. Well, I should be your grandfather at such age. It would be long story if I have to go through all these years, do you have the patience to listen to all of them?"

The girl nodded, the thrill was in her eyes.

" Well," the old man stood up, facing the glamorously blue ocean, " we are now on an isolated Southern island called Mesta. However, I was born in the north, in a cold winter. My father was Ser Babork, the ruler of House Flaming."

" House Flaming? Is it surrounded by the Forest of terror? I think its flag was painted a sword that had its tip lit up." The girl asked.

" Yes, How do you know that?" The old man was unable to suppress something between a smile and tears.

" I read, father."

" A great reader you are. Yes, we were never allowed to go into the forest. My father was a sneaky man, he set nasty traps. Once, one of the maids wanted to escape out of there to see her beloved bandit, then when we find her, she was in three pieces. Head, body and arms, then the legs. My father would never reveal what killed her. Only the closest guards know the way out and in. They ride the fastest horses to seek help in case other rulers attack us. We were haunted by it since we were very small. So we stay in our castle, always. My brothers usually fight with each other with a sword whenever they have time. They always wanted to be the greatest swordsman, but I was never too interested in sword playing. I sometimes practice those moves with my brother, but most of the time I walked around the castle and watched the bladesmith made the weapons. I was very much intrigued by the process of making weapons. I tried it sometimes, and my parents weren't so happy about my blackened hands.

" I don't need you to be the one who makes the weapons. I need you to be the one who uses the weapons. I need a noble knight, not a filthy bladesmith!" My father scolded at me scornfully once.

But a little rebellion was I, I didn't listen much to his orders.

But, this rebellious act did save my life, and put me into grave anger and fear.

It was that foggy night, the weather depressing as hell. The moon was like a scythe, the whole castle was quiet as graveyard. I was finally making my own sword finally, that night! I must finish it before I went to do any other things.

It was dinnertime, a guard called Rook William came to pick me up back to have dinner with my family. But, I was that stubborn lad that never left a thing unfinished. He was of course frustrated, and went back to pass my words to my father. After a while, I heard the clanging of swords, many swords. Then I had a foolish thought, who would be playing with swords during dinner? Then I saw fireworks that was being shot towards the sky. A large boar was formed with that, and that was on General Krock's flag. The other bladesmiths and I hid behind doors and listened to the shouting outside.

All of a sudden, someone kicked open the door of the workplace. It was Rook, wearing his silver armor, holding a lamp with a shivering flame inside, standing in the doorway, staring at me. Then he pulled me out of the place with monstrous strength.

Before I could ask what was going on, he mouthed to me that there was no time to talk about it. He took me down one, two, three, four, five, six or seven stairs. Soon enough, I found out I was escaping from my own castle.

" Rook, why are we fleeing from our own home?" I asked, not realising how stupid and obtuse I was.

He of course didn't answer me, but one-handed carried me by my collar. Then I saw a rusty gate, a place that never was shown on the map. He broke the lock with his sword and made our way out into the Forest of terror.

He seemed to know the way even there was just little moonlight that gave us a hint of the pavement, but we stepped on something that should have resulted in our death.

A bell.

" Those fuckers, thinking they are smart to put bells here!" Rook cursed under his breath, but kept running nonetheless. Soon, there were people chasing behind us. An arrow whizzed past my ear, then a scream. The archer was hung midair by some vine that came from nowhere. His head was in a queer position. Then another scream, someone might have gone off the trail and fell straight into the swamp down there.  However two of them made through all the traps and closed in. Rook could never run very fast with his armor and holding a lad. He put me on the trail carefully before launching an elbow blow to the first guy and a sweep for the latter. He drew out his sword and chopped the first guy's head off. The second guy managed to get up and lunged at me like a bear, but Rook was a bit faster. His fist launched a bone-cracking blow on the person's head and the person laid down on the muddy ground as blood was coming out from his nose, mouth and ears.

Rook held the person by his shoulder and said fiercely, " It was a pity that Krock sent you rubbish. I should have let you go and tell that traitor to fight with me here. But I have my last King here, and I must go, fucker."

Then he used his sword to cut the person's throat.

It was the first time I saw so much blood. I back away slowly, then he pulled me back to the centre of the trail.

" One step back, you gonna be in the trap. This blood is just tip of an iceberg if you must be a king. You must step forward to embrace the challenges, but not back away. There is nothing but people that want to kill you behind you. You must run ahead of them."

We were on our escape again.

But luckily, there were no one chasing behind us now.

I thought we went to the northeast, because we finally arrived at the Takisha bay, a beach. The ocean that connected with the beach was Ocean Takisha, which was also the closest ocean to my castle. Rook managed to find a boat that once belonged to some fishermen that have left the villages located around the ocean.  I later heard from people of the Crait Civilisation near the river Tauras that they flee because they fear the sea monsters from the ocean.

Rook got me on the boat and we started going east, where my dad's rivals were. The House Slayer. I tried to strangle Rook, but he threw me off.

" What are you doing, this is no time to play!" He called out to me. " Please fogive me, my King, I was getting a bit jittery."

" You are the traitor!" I shouted to him, drawing out my sword." You are getting me to the enemies!"

" What are you speaking, my King. I swear upon my House that my loyalty shall never quaver like the Mountain Trhigo. I shall die for my House, my King. My loyalty shall die with me in honor. I shall never give you to the enemies." His face solemn.

" Then why are you heading towards East, where my father's enemies lie?" I bellowed.

" Huh, your father's rivals don't lie here. They lie inside your castle. Those people that your father trusted was the real enemies of your father! There would be no way for outsiders to enter the castle, but only those who already are inside! It was my fault that I didn't protect him well, and my King, you are the last of the bloodline. I must protect you. I head East because this is the only way that General Krock wouldn't think of. But we will go behind and around the castle of House Slayer, and we will reside near the the Moutain Trhigo, I have noble friends there." He said with a clenched fist.

I listened very attentively, and suddenly was aware of what had happened to my family. So I asked.

Suddenly, a drop of tear broke the defence and slid down his cheek. " You will never believe it. That cunt, THAT CUNT, threw away his honor and attacked your family during the dinner. He brought some soldiers with him and killed everyone in the Dining Hall with crossbows. It was lucky that I went to search for you, or I would be dead like them. One day, I gunna go back and kill that cunt, Krock!" His eyes were burning.

Those words seemed to be echoing in my head for a long time before I collapsed and cried.

Rook made me look at him and said, " You are already fourteen, and you are a King. You would stand up and fight, but not wail like a baby. You must be strong, my King!"

However, I kept crying until I went asleep."

The old man stopped.

The girl looked at the old man and patted his back. " It was terrible that your family was being betrayed by someone they trusted."

The old man stared at the sea and sighed, " yes, most of the times, Kings aren't killed by outsiders but people they trusted. It is sad that it is hard to pick the real friends now. Right, fetch me some wine please?"

" Yes, father."

She was soon back with a glass of wine. The old man took a sip of it, and suddenly, a drop of tear fell into it and merged with the wine.

The girl said," father, this wine is no good to drink. It is tainted."

The old man smiled and said, " no, my girl, this drop of tear only makes my wine purer." then he took another sip of it.

When boredom comes to me, I write...

When I was thinking to write over what I usually do during this long summer holiday, I was tortured by boredom. Me, sitting alone in my bedroom, sitting in front of my computer, was like being locked up in an invisible cell.

Maybe I will write about today.

A day of boredom that leads to my exhaustion and sleepiness, as always.

I, like everyone, woke up with a foul mouth and still blurred eyes. Then, I of course brushed my teeth and had my breakfast.

After it, I locked myself in my bedroom, sitting in front of my computer.

My mother would then scream at me, telling me not to site there too long. I simply nodded and said " of course, mom." before she went to work.

Then I was the only person left at home, and I was the King. I basically have the freedom to do whatever I am interested in, such as computer games and Game of thrones. Don't you feel a little bit excitement churning inside you when you are left alone at home? Yes, of course you do. Just some teenage madness.

I decided to read the book, the book thief, first. May I give you some information of the book. A girl, growing up in Germany during the time period which Nazi party grew to its power. Being a daughter of a communist, she was sent to her foster parents. She 'stole' her first book during her brother's funeral. When she arrived at her new home, she met her friendly Papa, and an aggressive Mama. Her Mama loved to berate rich people scornfully, saying abrasive words, and cooked atrociously. However, her Mama did care for her. She slowly adapted to the life there, and made friend with Rudy. They went through quite many things together (some food stealing, for example), and Rudy always painted himself as a audacious person. Being an illiterate, the book thief was lucky to have Papa teaching her the words, and she found she was in love with books. She stole her second after discovering that some books were not burnt completely during the bonfire.

I am currently at the chapter which Max, a Jew that escaped the round-up, came to her home to seek Papa's protection and shelter. Well, let's see what will happen to them. Ah right, the name of the book thief was Liesel Meminger.

Then, my eyes reminded me to rest.

After my nap, it was my Game of Thrones time.

It was like a magnet to me that attracted me to watch more and more of it. Though some scenes were gruesome, such as beheading or throat cutting, I still watch it because it is gripping. But what I wasn't too happy was that the good men always were the ones killed but not the ruthless villains. But, my friends, have faith in the good people, one day, justice will have found their own light. I am looking forward to SEASON 6!!!!

Then, I found out the sky was dimmer, and there was a crescendo of voices below me. I looked down through the window and saw children running around, chasing each other. Then the sorrow came back to me, why am I stuck here, while others are playing and sweating? Then I thought that I have changed, I am already a teenager. Teenagers don't run around. But why, not because it is wrong, but because it seems to be immature in others' eyes. Sometimes, it is just others judging you. Sometimes, the answer is the whole lot people out there. But I really want to sweat like how I did it in childhood, and play hide-and-seek with other children.

Sometimes, if you are the one against the world, don't fear, because there is no definite right or wrong answer.

The phone rang, time to go.

I am sure you find out that I have no main point for this passage. It is correct, I am just writing down everything that flashed in my brain. As I said, boredom drove me crazy, and often to stupidity.

Let's find a way to kill the boredom tomorrow.
